54439

The Rolex Cellini Prince ref. 5443/9 is one of the most historically significant modern Cellinis. Introduced in 2005, it revived the rectangular Prince design associated with Rolex's early 20th-century dress watches and the famous "Doctor's Watch" concept.

Its 28 × 47mm white-gold case, Art Deco styling, small-seconds display and manually wound calibre 7040 make it unlike almost every other modern Rolex. The transparent case back is particularly important: the Prince is one of the very few Rolex watches where the movement was intended to be viewed by the wearer.

It is an Icon because the 5443/9 is perhaps the ultimate example of Rolex deliberately ignoring its own conventions to create a true dress watch.
