Rolex Submariner “Hulk”

The Rolex Submariner “Hulk” is one of the most distinctive modern interpretations of Rolex's legendary dive watch. Introduced in 2010 as reference 116610LV, it followed the green-bezel 16610LV “Kermit”, but took the concept considerably further. The Hulk paired a vivid green Cerachrom ceramic bezel with a matching green sunburst dial, creating a combination unlike anything previously seen in the standard stainless-steel Submariner range. Beneath the striking appearance was the proven calibre 3135, housed within Rolex's 40mm Submariner case and protected by the watch's legendary 300-metre water resistance. The result was a watch that remained unmistakably Submariner while deliberately breaking from the traditional black-dial formula.

Produced for approximately a decade before being discontinued in 2020, the 116610LV has since become an important reference for collectors. Its successor, 126610LV, retained the green Cerachrom bezel but returned to a black dial and introduced Rolex's larger 41mm case and calibre 3235, meaning the original Hulk was never simply carried forward into the next generation. That distinction has given the 116610LV its own place in Rolex collecting. The Hulk represents a period when Rolex was willing to push colour into its professional sports watches while maintaining the engineering standards that made the Submariner famous. It is an Icon because its bold green-on-green design transformed a traditionally conservative dive watch into one of the most recognisable and collectible modern Rolexes ever produced.
